I have started reading Ed Pearman’s book, MusicScapes of Scotland, Vignettes from Prehistory to Pandemic. Ed and I go way back, to when he was the director of the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club, in the 1980’s-1990’s. He put on many a great Scottish Fiddle Rally concert locally. And a huge one, on the Esplanade in Boston on the Charles River. After moving to NH, he has been for 24 years, a music columnist for Scottish Life magazine. This book is a wealth of knowledge about musical styles and history, helping us all to appreciate songs in Gaelic, Scots, and English, music of the pipes, fiddle, harp and more.
