“Folkabilly” singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith was born on July 6, 1953, and raised in Austin, Texas. Her career spanned the late 1970s to the early 2010s, and she earned the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 1994 for the album Other Voices, Other Rooms. Griffith passed away in August of 2021 at the age of 68.
