Greetings once again as we transition from certainly an interesting summer 2021 to autumn, hopefully the latter not being as, well, unpredictable weatherwise…we DID squeeze in a nice day for our BBQ though a few weeks back, I think we’re in agreement it sure was a relief of sorts to get out and see some live music as well as each other’s smiling faces after a long, long time…

As for Highway 61 this month, this first weekend (4th) we’ll paying special attention to the birthdays of a couple of Stewarts, the late John and still very much alive Al, also co-founder of the Beach Boys Al Jardine, the other Parsons from the Byrds Gene, Roger Waters, Sal Valentino, Loudon the III, Billy Preston and Ron ‘Pigpen’ McKernan for starters, the following weekend (9/11) features John Martyn, Maria Muldaur and guitar maestro Leo Kottke, also Danny Kalb of the Blues Project, drummer Mickey Hart, David Clayton-Thomas and the legendary Otis Redding…

For the 3rd weekend of September, the birthdays of the legendary Leonard Cohen and David Bromberg are slated, Slyvia Tyson as well among others…the following and last weekend (25th) it’s her then husband Ian Tyson, Bruce Springsteen and the late Bryan MacLean of the band Love, rounding things off with the highly influential Anne Briggs…

And…we’re in talks to present some sort of Zoom Highway 61 event towards the end of September, if you have any ideas feel free to pass ’em on…
