WUMB will celebrate Joan Armatrading as the Artist of the Day on Friday, December 9th, her 72nd birthday.

Born in St. Kitts and raised in Birmingham, England, Armatrading has released 20 albums over a career that is nearly 50 years long. Famed producer/engineer Glyn Johns, who has worked with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and the Eagles, said her 1976 hallmark LP, Joan Armatrading, was the best album he’s ever been associated with.

In 2020, Armatrading was awarded the Order of The British Empire for services to music, charity, and equal rights.

Joan Armtrading’s music will be showcased during the Artist of the Day features on Friday during the 9 AM, noon, 3 PM, and 7 PM hours.
