Iris DeMent has been one of the most-compelling songwriters of the past 30 years, with songs like “Our Town” and “Let the Mystery Be” on her 1992 debut album, Infamous Angel, to her recent collection of songs inspired by the writing of 20th century Russian poet Anna Akhmatova.

WUMB will celebrate Iris DeMent on her 61st birthday, Wednesday, January 5th in the 9 AM, noon, 3 PM, and 7 PM hours. We’ll share songs from her own albums, as well as collaborations with John Prine, Ana Egge, and others over the years.
