WUMB is throwing a party!  We’re ready to celebrate the summer with an afternoon of great music and great food, and we hope that WUMB members will join us on Saturday, August 21 from 1pm-5pm at Squantum Point Park in Quincy, MA

Food will be provided by Blue Ribbon BBQ, and here’s who will be performing:

Kate Campbell
Hubby Jenkins
Kemp Harris
The Kennedys

Kate Campbell’s songwriting follows in the southern literary tradition with an emphasis on a sense of place, race, and religion. Her story-filled songs feature quirky characters and often deal with the region’s complex issues. John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, Maura O’Connell, and Mac McAnally have provided guest vocals on her albums.

Hubby Jenkins is an American multi-instrumentalist who studies and performs old-time American music. He is a former member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and the Rhiannon Giddens band, and has been nominated for Grammy and Americana awards.

Kemp Harris defies categorization. He is a singer and songwriter, a master weaver of American musical styles. He’s an actor, activist, author, and storyteller, and an award-winning educator who has taught young public school students for more than 40 years.

The Kennedys first met in the early 90’s playing in Nanci Griffith’s band and since have been working together and recognized for their harmonies and blending elements of country music, bluegrass, Western swing and more.

This all day event is rain or shine so bring a lawn chair as well as a blanket and join us!
