New York City’s gritty instrumental trio has flourished for over 20 years. The band is known for its cinematic music and legendary live performances, having presented its singular brand of crime jazz at venues including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Opéra National de Lyon. Big Lazy founder Stephen Ulrich is the composer for the HBO series Bored to Death and the art forgery documentary Art and Craft. Big Lazy’s studio albums have included collaborations with NYC artists Marc Ribot and Steven Bernstein.
In March of 2023 Barbes Records released the album Music from This American Life (https://stephenulrich.bandcamp.com/album/music-from-this-american-life-album) , a collection of Ulrich’s compositions from the iconic radio program This American Life.
