WUMB will celebrate all things Mavis Staples – a Civil Rights icon – throughout the weekend of her 83rd birthday, born July 10, 1939. From her days with The Staple Singers to her early solo records, latest releases, collaborations, and live performances we’ll share her music beginning on Friday for the Artist of the Day features.

Over the weekend, hear Mavis’ music on Highway 61 Revisited, Spinning the Blues, and the SAMW Cafe.
