Jeff Tweedy’s career extends back to his days in Uncle Tupelo in the 1990s where, alongside Jay Farrar and Mike Heidorn, he helped to shape the sound of what is now referred to as “Americana” music. After Uncle Tupelo disbanded, Tweedy went on to form Wilco, a project that allows him to range further sonically and creatively. In 1998, Wilco and Billy Bragg were the first to take previously unused Woody Guthrie lyrics and set them to their own music on the album Mermaid Avenue.

In recent years, Tweedy has produced albums by artists such as Mavis Staples, Richard Thompson, and Joan Shelley and has released solo records and collaborations with his sons Spencer and Sammy.

Jeff Tweedy will turn 55 years old on Thursday, August 25th. WUMB will celebrate by sharing songs from through his career.
