Slim Harpo was born James Isaac Moore in Lobdell, LA on January 11, 1924. He was never a full-time musician (he owned his own trucking business), and he lived only to the age of 46, despite “clean living”. Yet, Harpo’s “swamp blues” recordings in the late-50s through the 60s, such as “I’m a King Bee”, “Baby, Scratch My Back”, and “Hip Shakin'”, were cross-over hits, influential to young bands particularly in Britain.

We’ll highlight Slim Harpo’s own recordings, as well as other artists from The Rolling Stones to Whitehorse, covering his iconic songs.
