What? You thought "folk music" only described a bunch of old guys playing banjos? Nah.
You're probably an X-treme kind of person to be interested in something that calls itself an X-Stream kind of music. You’re probably pretty fearless, huh? Well, folk music has a reputation for attracting radicals, for being wildly experimental and madly new.
Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, David Gray and Aimee Mann are solo singer/songwriters who are making up new music styles. Folk bands like The Waifs, The Weepies, Calexico and Girlyman invent new ways of being a band. These are just some of the musicians you'll hear on the X-Stream Folk channel.
Folk's not what you thought, huh? Listen up. Check out the link to one of the X-Stream Folk players below for an hour or two, and let us know what you really think. Email us at Wumb@umb.edu
You can even see information about the artists and song titles as they are playing with the Live 365 Audio Player (sorry, this feature does not work with the other audio players listed below).
